Frequently Asked Questions

  • How should my documents be formatted?

All documents should be double-spaced and set in 12-point Times New Roman font with page numbers. All files should be compatible with Microsoft Word.

  • How long does an edit take?

Every book is different, but comprehensive edits typically take between 4-6 weeks. Once I’ve given the manuscript an initial read, I’ll provide an expected delivery date.

  • What type of payment do you accept and when is payment due?

Due to post office delays, I am only accepting payments digitally at this time via Zelle or Venmo. Once I’ve delivered the completed edit, payment is due in full within 15 days. If you need to set up an individual payment plan, I am happy to talk about your options.

  • What type of editorial software do you use?

I edit in Microsoft Word track changes. This is the industry standard. All files should be compatible with Microsoft Word.

  • Will you refer me to a literary agent?

Since I cannot refer everyone, I choose not to make any referrals. Still, I’m happy to offer advice on how to approach the process.

  • Can you guarantee my book will be acquired by a publisher if I revise per your editorial suggestions?

Unfortunately, I cannot make any guarantees that a publisher will acquire your book. However, I can promise to provide you with the most comprehensive advice so that your manuscript has the best chance to be acquired.

  • Will I need to sign a contract?

Yes. I use a standard editorial agreement.

  • How soon can I schedule an edit?

I typically book up 1-2 months in advance. Please contact me to schedule an edit.
